Psychological assessment is a series of tests, usually conducted by a psychologist in order to gather additional information about how people may think feel and behave and respond in times of distress. The findings are usually gathered and a report is produced that will help guide the course of treatment for that particular client. Psychological assessments are usually conducted to guide mental health or psychiatric treatment, there is a trend toward insurance companies requiring an assessment in order to cover certain medical procedures. Psychological assessments that focus on a clients capability in a particular job setting or the capability of a defendant to stand trial are also common reasons for psychological assessments to be requested. Psychological assessments are also used in order to help students if they are requiring additional assistance or accommodations in their classroom settings.

An intake will be conducted by Dr. Orndorff in order to determine if testing is necessary based on the referral and the specific test that will need to be given. This is generally followed by the testing sessions as well as a follow up after the testing is completed to review the report and give final recommendations. The report and recommendations will also be sent to the referring provider, if there is one. If you have insurance you will most likely need a referral in order for any of the testing to be covered if you do not have insurance then we will discuss our cash pay rates for testing with you at the intake.
